Prepare to cross the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel
All the information to prepare your crossing of the bay
To prepare well for your crossing of the bay of Mont Saint-Michel, the best is to ask a guide who will accompany you throughout the crossing.
From a practical point of view, the crossing is done barefoot or with diving booties. Depending on the weather forecast, it is highly recommended to have a warm clothes and a waterproof jacket in case (we are in Normandy). A small backpack is almost indispensable to put walking shoes or sneakers (to put on arrival at the Mount) and a bottle of water. A hat or cap, sunscreen, some provisions and sunglasses (there are many reverberations) will allow you to walk in good conditions. For teenagers, the mobile phone is connected to the network throughout the crossing. That said, it would be a shame not to enjoy the grandiose landscape that surrounds you.
The crossing can be done at all ages, children of 7 to 77 years in good physical condition can do it without difficulties (it is quite flat) even if it takes a few hours. In any case, do not engage if you think you are not ready to do a sports walk. Without being difficult, the crossing is quite long.
If you use the services of a guide, the groups range from about 15 to 20 people. You have to arrive a little before (see the schedules of the guides) because if you are not on time the guide will leave without for safety reasons (tides, expected water releases ...).
It is a pleasant hike to the Mont that will allow you to discover more than the simple visit of Mont Saint-Michel because the Bay has a vast ecosystem with a particular fauna and flora.
