The Garden and the Dior Museum in Granville
The childhood Granvillaise Christian Dior
Christian Dior, the fashion designer spent his childhood in Granville in "Villa Rhumbs". He had wonderful memories and those years have, no doubt, inspired the one who, in 1947, was going to revolutionize fashion with "the Revolution of New look ".
This house is located on the heights of Granville. It is accessible when taking the direction of Donville-les-Bains. It is also possible to hike from the beach of Granville (opposite the Casino) by taking the path of Minguiers which offers a unique panorama on the beach of Granville.
The garden, about 1 hectare, overlooks the sea. It is a garden beautifully maintained by the city of Granville which is the owner. You will discover many flowers and exceptional landscaping. The garden is also an Olfactory discovery since you will be able to smell the perfumes of the house Dior during the visit.
The house is also visited during the two exhibitions organized annually. It has been converted into a museum of fashion dedicated to the creation Dior. This is a unique opportunity to discover the photos and videos of the biggest fashion shows but also the dresses and couture clothes that made the fashion designer's reputation. You will understand how the fashion and the image of the woman could evolve by the learned constructions of Christian Dior.
The garden tour is free and free all year round. November to February from 9h to 17h. March and October from 9h to 20h. June to August from 9h to 21h.
